WELCOME TO ASHWORTH CBT

I offer private Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy at my private, confidential office in the Adlington area of Chorley, Lancashire.  Therapy is provided in person, or remotely via Skype, Teams and Whatsapp video.

I accept self-referrals, and referrals from other professionals and agencies, such as solicitors, and health insurance companies, such as WPA, Bupa, Vita Health Group, Axa PPP, PLE Health and Nuffield Health.

CBT is an effective, short-term, evidence-based talking therapy which will give you skills and techniques to address your current problems.  The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the NHS recommend CBT for the treatment of many mental health conditions including, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), phobias, and insomnia.

EMDR Therapy involves processing past 'unprocessed memories that contain the negative emotions, sensations and beliefs' (Shapiro, 2012).  EMDR Therapy can help with a range of issues, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues, OCD, and body dysmorphic disorder.

ABOUT ME

I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and fully accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

I worked within the NHS for 15 years, working with service users with complex mental health and substance misuse issues.  For over 3 years I studied CBT and developed my skills in offering clients effective CBT.  I have also completed training in motivational interviewing, person-centred therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT) and I'm currently training in EMDR.

I am experienced in treating depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, stress, perfectionism, social anxiety, panic attacks, excessive worry, phobias, trauma, anger, insomnia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.  I currently do not offer CBT to treat personality disorders and bipolar.
